Changes in 2026

  • For marketplace plans, a big change is that Mountain Health Co-op is exiting Wyoming for all products in 2026, meaning people will need to choose a new insurance during "Open Enrollment" this fall.

  • The "expanded tax credits" that the Biden Administration introduced are set to expire at the end of 2025 unless the government acts. Many Wyoming residents will no longer qualify for tax credits on marketplace plans, and will need to explore other options, unless they choose to pay full price for their marketplace plans.

  • For Medicare plans, UnitedHealthCare is pulling their main Advantage plans from all counties except Natrona and Laramie - meaning those clients will need to choose a new plan during "Annual Enrollment" this fall.

  • The Wyoming Insurance Department introduced a "Birthday Rule" in June for Medicare Supplement plans, allowing clients to change their medigap plans each year with no medical underwriting. This could have unintended consequences such as rates going up for medigap plans across the board in Wyoming.

  • Part D plans are expected to have higher premiums in 2026, due to the government regulation introduced for the 2025 plan year and beyond.

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of WY will introduce Medicare Advantage plans in 2026.
